caroline cozza
Having worked as a personal trainer and aerobics instructor for years, yoga seemed like a natural progression for Caroline who had been practicing Mahayana Buddhism before being introduced to yoga. As an experienced trainer, Caroline offers a dynamic class aimed at increasing strength and flexibility by focusing on isometric movements in the context of flow sequences. Caroline's class strives to increase one's internal sense of balance and equanimity by cultivating core strength and proper alignment, while working intimately with breathing/Pranayama techniques to facilitate mind-body awareness. She also believes that awesome playlists are CRUCIAL to the aforementioned goals and therefore may or may not occasionally synchronize her sun salutations to The Beatles.
In addition to teaching at Blue Point, Caroline is a doctoral student in DukeÕs clinical psychology program and enjoys working as a therapist in this capacity. Her research interests focus on mindfulness-based treatments for psychopathology including MBSR and DBT, and behavioral interventions for depressive disorders. In her spare time Caroline works as an animal advocate in the community and at Duke where she is president of the student group for the ethical treatment of animals (SETA). She has like the coolest cats ever and is grateful for the hilarity of their antics and the compassion they inspire. Contact Caroline here.
