Crystal has been teaching yoga since 2004 in the Research Triangle Park, NC, and surrounding communities. Prior to that, she taught and studied yoga in Asheville, NC, where she successfully completed her 230 contact hour yoga teacher certification and registered with Yoga Alliance. Crys teaches in the Iyengar tradition, which uses props and modifications to aid in proper alignment, allowing yoga students to progress gradually in their practice. Iyengar focuses on the body/mind connection and enables the practitioner to engage the body's natural healing ability. Crys holds a Law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an undergraduate degree from North Carolina State in Political Science. An artist by temperament, Crys nonetheless spent her early career in the corporate world, trying to use those degrees she had earned. She continued to express and renew herself through art, dance and yoga in the few hours between work and sleep. Crys originally became interested in yoga because of the connection to job related stresses. After several years of personal practice she decided to share the joys of yoga by becoming a Registered Yoga Instructor. Teachers who have inspired and educated Crys include Stephanie Keach, Shala Worsley, Cindy Dollar, Crys' yoga students, and many others who cross her path every day. Influenced by Iyengar, Yin and Vinyasa Flow, Crys' classes offer a safe environment for students to move deeper into their practice, have fun and get unstuck from the baggage of everyday living.
