forest michaels

Forest began her yoga journey nearly seven years ago in New York City and relished the chance it offered her to slow down a few times a week and smell the proverbial roses, and also get to know herself better. In time, she was inspired by a particular teacher who made her realize what a wonderful gift it was to be able to teach others how to do this as well. And so, she began to think about becoming a teacher. It is said that one truly learns yoga when the practice ceases to be about oneself and becomes about how one encounters others. After putting off training year after year, she took the leap and signed up for a teacher certification at Om Yoga in New York. Originally from North Carolina, she finally decided to move back to pursue her yoga interest, which lies in developing an educational program that uses yoga as a technique for helping at-risk youth channel their internal strength and energy.

Forest began a graduate program in School Counseling at UNC last summer but is currently on leave. She spends the week in Greensboro working to help Kay Hagan win her race for U.S. Senate. Teaching her classes at Blue Point is what is keeping her head on straight these days!
