Alicia Heacock

Growing up as a competitive gymnast and dancer, Alicia developed a keen awareness of the body's strength and flexibility at an early age. By the time she finished high school she was mentally and physically exhausted. At the recommendation of a friend, Alicia began practicing Ashtanga in 2000, and found yoga to be a perfect transition - a beautiful, physical practice, that left her full, instead of empty. In the years since, Alicia has enjoyed exploring the different styles and teachings of yoga, and completed the 200-hour OM Yoga Teacher Training at Blue Point Yoga Center in spring 2011.  She has trained with Frank Mauro, Cyndi Lee and David Nichtern, and finds inspiration in the works of Pema Chodron and H.H. the Dalai Lama.  Alicia challenges her students to step onto their mats with curiosity and joy, to explore their own personal edges with an open mind and open heart.
